Grief can feel good

When you left

Split me open

Fractured heart

Cells frenzy

Eyes fill with salt

Question what is

Sound of you gone

Deafening my ears

No more lilt

No more sing-song

Melody of you

Telling me it’s okay

Now it’s just me

Here with my grief

Somehow you

Are giving me permission to feel

I FEEL

Searing lungs

Breath escapes

Chest is crushing

Head is throbbing

Eyelids are aching

But then?

Peace

Pieces on the floor

The darkness is real

I’ve been afraid to see

Somehow you leaving

Has set me free.

I needed that.
